Default c5 brake conversion brackets

Can anybody just quickly run down the difference between the brackets out there? They all seem the same but it looks like some use f-body pad abutment brackets and some require cutting etc.

They all do the same thing. As far as I know, they all use C5 calipers and brackets. Only a couple of them do not require cutting. The Bob Bishop/Trackbrackets/hotpart brackets and the UMI are considered the best ones in design.

Hello
With the C5 Upgrade kit you will have to cut the ears off of the spindle. Below is a link for the directions. And if you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will be more than glad to help!

Thanks

I just got done putting the UMI kit in last night, but I got used spindles already pre-cut. It went in really easy, less than an hour each side. It would be pretty quick to do it with a sawzall too.

Don't use sawzall it'll take forever. A 5" die grinder with a cutting disc and safety glasses.

They all the same, only different is material and craftsmanship. Some use aluminium CNC while some use steel CNC and weld. You SHOULD use C5 caliper with the big rotor to avoid bais. Not sure LG braceket use which caliper. There's some non-sponsor bracket will work the same. I've them and they work perfect.

the LG unit uses the camaro pad abbutment bracket and the vette C5 caliper. you can quicklu swap back to the camaro rotor, which is nice to run drag wheels.
With the kit and Kumho v710 I was able to do 10 70-0 stops in less than 210 feet each time, at the carcraft real street elimator competition

Are the LG ones the only ones that dont require cutting? I'm not afraid to cut, however.

^^No, there's also some non sponsor conversion bracket doesn't require cutting. They've similar design just different material and craftsmanship like I mentioned above. However, LG conversion bracket will ONLY fit regular C5 rotor (12.7"). Meaning, it'll only accept F-body brake abutment bracket.

On the other hand, all the cutting required conversion bracket will accept C6 Z51 rotor (13.5") with regular C5/C6 caliper, or C6 Z06 rotor (14") with C6 Z06 caliper. To me, it doesn't matter the brand. All matter is the function. If you don't go any further than C5 rotor, non cutting bracket is fine. However, if you MIGHT wanna upgrade one day, you'll better with the cutting bracket.

One more option is CTS-v conversion, require no conversion adaptor. Check the other thread started by JasonWW. It'll cost more money but worth it. FYI, my C5 conversion total cost is $360.

We also offer a C5 brake conversion bracket. Ours still requires the cutting of the spindle but differ slightly in construction.

Felt awkward since I cut from the bottom up.

IIRC, regular C5 and C5 Z06 use the same caliper, only different is color. I've regular C5 caliper which works great. You might wanna check out brakemotive for rotor and pad. Good stuff in good price.

My sawzall is almost useless. Even with new dewalt blade, it doesn't do anything good. It's the saw itself make the different I guess.
