Default Removing the upper Panhard rod or drag racing?

I was just wondering if it would hurt anything if I removed mine? I am gunna replace the lower with an aftermarket but I was wondering what the upper was actually used for?
I have heard of people removing them to run dual exhaust setups.

There is only one panhard rod (GM calls it a Track Bar) and your car should not be driven without it. The panhard rod provides lateral (side-to-side) stability for the rear axle. The rod attaches to the axle on the driver’s side and to the body on the passenger side. The upper part is a stationary brace for the end that attaches to the body. Driving the car without these parts in place would be very dangerous.
