Default Delrin bushings instead of urethane or Heim.

Does anyone use Delrin bushings? It's a thermoplastic by DuPont with better strength and low friction.

It depends where and how it is being used. To replace a bushing with delrin can lead to binding... delrin will allow minimal deflection.

can you give us a little more information about these new bushings? Like what suspension parts they will be used on? and their benefits?

Delrin works great in an application where binding isn't an issue (4th gen F-Body upper control arms, all of the upper and lower front control arm bushings on an old A/G/B-body...) but in any location where the bushing needs to be able to deflect a bit, it won't work out well at all.

That said, I run global west front control arm bushings in my b-body, they call them "Del-alum"...delrin inserts in aluminum shells with steel sleeves over the bolts...keeps the delrin from being cut by the frame and control arm and bolt...it definitely made that cars steering feel a LOT more alive, much nicer to autocross and roadrace with.

4th Gen F-Bodies don't have a lot of locations where a solid bushing like that is very advantageous though.

I've also made delrin bushings for a friends BMW...but I don't think it was worth it in that car.

Delrin is great for the body mount of the swaybars. Of course, so are plastic cutting boards.

Quick Reply: Delrin bushings instead of urethane or Heim.
