Default Taking longer to brake?

Installed new rotors and pads. Since then my car seems like it is taking longer to brake than stock.
I got the power stop drilled ones from Summit and the brake pads. Install went like this.

Removed tires, removed brake caliper, set caliper aside on the a arm, removed rotor, replaced rotor, put brake caliper braket back in place, put on new pad, pushed the two pistons back into the caliper with the tool, put the calipers back on, and tires back on. I then drove out my drive way and damn no brakes. So I pumped the brake pedal for a while and got feeling back in the brakes. Then did some slow stops and some mid speed 45 mph stops, and did one 75 MPH stop, and it seemed the thing was taking longer to stop.. and now it is not any better. Ideas?

Oh and I only replaced fron not back.

Thanks

Braking performance is all about pad compound, not necessarily age.

Not having brakes after initial install is normal. You pushed the piston back into the caliper. You then have to push them back out to contact the rotor.

It appears you did everything correctly, down to bedding the pads. I contend you have a very hard set of pads.

They will probably last forever and create very little dust. But performance will suffer.

Did you install ceramic pads, I found when I installed them on a non f-body car they seemed to stop the car slower then the stock pads did.

Yes they are ceramic pads. Should I change them out to something like the "hawk" pads?

From what understand the hawk pads leave a lot of brake dust, I have found that the brake pads that come on the f-bodies work quite well. The OEM pads stop well and the ones I've had don't dust all that bad either ( not as good as ceramic pads but the OEM pads stop better ), check with your G.M. dealer and see what they would cost.

According to the rep at summit he reccomended not using any pads which are "non metallic" he said that I should use only metalic pads with these rotors. They are the drilled but not slotted rotors. So are the OEM pads metallic?

Thanks
