Please Help! Vibration Issue! I'm getting a vibration from the rear of my Trans Am. It seems to be mostly RPM affected because even though it gets a little worse with speed, it mostly gets worse with higher RPM. If I stay in 3rd in my auto, its the worst of all. When it shifts into OD, it settles down a little, but mostly because the RPM drops I think. I recently added an adjustable torque arm and a set of poly/solid rod LCA's. Shortly after that, I had the car converted to an auto. It had some vibration like this with the 6 speed too, just not quite as bad. I'm trying to diagnose if it's the rear end, the suspension stuff, or the auto traney itself and I'm just wondering why it is so much more prevalent in 3rd.
Check your pinion angle! I installed an adjustable torque arm in my Z-28 a few years ago, and THOUGHT I knew how to set the angle. I had a slight vibration, but I had also installed a poly tranny mount at the same time, and assumed it was the poly mount transmitting more vibration.....WRONG!
I finally stumbled on the BMR video on how to set the pinion angle, followed the instructions to the letter, and 90% of the vibration went away. I took the d'shaft out, had a local d'shaft shop install new u-joints and re-balance the shaft, and the remaining vibes were gone.....

My car is lowered and I also had to set the adjustable front mont lower than I wanted just to clear my big exhaust. This made setting the pinion angle, even with the video and all theninstructions, more difficult and confusing. I actually started a thread about it at one point as well.
