Default BMR question?

How good are the springs. I did a search and there's so much conflicting information, it's ridiculous. Please, someone that knows what their talking about respond. Thanks.

Get an Eibach and install it on the left front, a DMS spring and install it on the left front, a BMR spring and put it on the left rear and finally a Hypercoil on the right rear.

That should get you covered ...

YOu have companies like Eibach, H&R, Hotchkiss and many others that are making great springs on very expensive equipment and heat treating them properly. I can't think of a good reason to use something from a company that makes mostly "other things". I like to buy springs from spring companies (eibach, H&R, etc) and suspension from suspension companies (LG Motorsports, Hotchkiss, Global west, etc). And, honestly, after the failures we've seen in a few cases, I buy little from BMR (I had lots of their stuff, only my strut tower brace remains....).

As always, just my thoughts.....

I almost forgot to ask, what are you doing with the car? (autocross, drag, street?). That will make a difference in your choice of springs.

I love my BMR springs. More stable but not a harsh ride like some of the others. 1" drop was perfect. I have yet to see someone break a spring.

Thanks for the input guys. I mostly use the car for street. I might use it for autocross in the future. Drag racing is not my thing. I get board sitting in line to only do an 8 or 9 second pass (1/8 mile, only track close by). I don't want to big a drop. I also heard that Eibachs sag after a while. Is this true. I also want a progressive spring with a higher spring rate. I don't care about the ride to much.

BMR claims that they raise the spring rate about 100 in lbs over stock. This may make them a little soft for autocross use. Not that you need "tons of spring", but you may want mslightly more rate than that. I like my H&R's, I've used Eibach Pro Kits with great success. LG Motorsports has a set of springs (G2?) that seem to be highly recommended for track type use. I'd start by reasearching those springs and see if they will do what you need. Good luck!

The G2s are out of stock indefinately, unfortunately. Where do you get the H&Rs?

What's the spring rate of the H&Rs? They don't look like progressives.

I drive them every day. Shocks will make a much larger impact on the way a car rides than springs ever will. So, I don't consider them to be bad at all. I can adjust my ride from plush to "stupid stiff" with a few tweaks of the Koni's. I keep trying softer settings on the koni's and the car keeps getting faster, so it seems to be working.

Oh, and they are not progressive. They use a "tender spring" which is a soft spring wound onto the end of the springs to keep the springs from falling out of the spring perches when the suspension is at full droop. Once the car is sitting on them, they just become a spacer (the coils stack up and it becomes a solid spacer).

Have fun!

Cool. Thanks for the info. That helps a lot. I have one more question though. Can I run the stock shocks for a while before upgrading them? Also which relocation brackets did you use? They're probably all about the same, but I was just wondering. Thanks again.
