Default Longer wheel stud ?

I had to use a 7mm spacer to accomadate my C5 brake upgrade (clear my spokes). I figure I have about 1/2" of thread engagement with my lugs. Is that enough? If I need a longer stud how long should I get. Simple but important question.

These wheel studs are the same length as stock, just threaded all teh way to the end.

Have used them with a 1/2 spacer without an issue.
