OP, have you had a chance to get out and get a feel for your new suspension? What do you like/dislike? Any stock car you can compare the new driving eperience to?

I still have 5 inches of snow in my driveway. Supposed to warm up the next couple days and I'll get it aligned and go beat on it.

I enjoy driving the car again now that it has shocks that work! I really enjoy twisties since my 98 Z-71 stopped being the more responsive vehicle HeHe

I bet it will feel a little different...it's kinda funny how the car used to rock every time you would lean into the engine bay, and now it barely moves even if you try to bounce the car by pushing on a shock tower. I'm guessing this may take some lean out of the car...

Thanks again for the help on the set-up Sam. Still 1 car to go. Hopefully get it tackled before long.

so as far as selling an fbody with a 4/3 or 4/4 and lets say strano spring package installed...

does it add $ to the value of the car for sure?

i would think it would. The kbb for my car for instance is $7k but the market seems to hold M6 Ttops z28s higher than auto coupes...

so if i had the 4/3 koni, strano spring setup among other things i'd expect it to be worth like $8k or $9k?

NOT THAT I WANT TO SELL IT

haha just so i know

anyone who expects to see much return on their dollars spent on mods will probably be disappointed. I love modding my cars and bikes, but rarely does it bring any return to resale value.

OP- did you have to change any of the strut bushings or did you simply re-use your old one?

You want an extra $2,000 for $1200 worth of parts? I might pay a few hundred more but that's it. I think most buyers are leary of modified cars, no matter what the mod. Too many modified cars have been beaten up.

^^^^ A car with mods, especially engine mods, show that a car could have been beaten. Suspension mods, maybe not so much, but still show that the driver was probably hard on the car. Mods aren't done to increase resale, just fun

OP, I feel your pain with the snow. I have Koni's sitting in my garage

it depends on the owner too. I'd be very leary about buying anything modified by a 21 year old kid. somebody who shows more experience might not be too bad. it's usually not too hard to assess skills and quality work.

yeah i'm just wondering. i'm doing the mods for pleasure of driving the car. i would expect it to increase the value of the car by a couple hundred dollars atleast.. especially if its only suspension mods.

lol, you mean you wouldn't buy a car from a 16 year old that said it's "got flo's, NAWZ, and a chip"?

If you are talking about the plastic pieces that go on the spring perch up front, yes, I reused the stockers. They were in perfect shape, although I have heard of some people having issues with them being brittle.

Good shocks can add to the value if the buyer knows how good Koni's or Billie's are.

Yeah, that's it. Like I said, mine were perfectly fine...I'm not sure how they could really get in bad shape, but i guess over like 150000 miles they could get worn.

Update: Got the car aligned today and spent some time on the road with it. While I don't have many roads with good curves near me, I could tell a HUGE difference in the way the car handled on the highway. The car felt very planted around curves at any (soemtimes highly illegal) speed. Pretty much all lean is gone from the car, even at high speeds around on/off ramps. I don't know that car felt a whole lot smoother on the bumpy side streets, but our streets are really jacked right now from being plowed so much this winter. It may take some minor adjustments, but I feel like for the most part the car as it sits is a great mix for handling the curves and being tolerable as a daily driver, which is essentially what I was shooting for.

As the weather warms and you put a few miles on the shocks, they will get a little more compliant. I know our roads here took a frost heaved pounding this winter, much worse than in a long time--that certainly doesn't help a before/after comparison much!!!
