Default How much is safe to remove from caliper?

I need more room between the caliper and wheel hoop. How much of the ribs on the side can be removed without weakening the calipers?

They are the front brakes.

Just centering the rotor on the wheel, caliper can only move 1/16" between rotor and wheel hoop.

you'll be fine taking of whatever you need to for your application. Its when you get past the ribs that your looking at problems, but you dont need to go anywhere near that deep.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if they added a lot of strength or not. I still have not even taken them out of the abutment brackets yet to really look them over.

No problem... fbodies have to take off a lot of the caliper to fit 15's on the rear. Ive done this on quite a few vehicles and never had an issue with the calipers breaking or anything. I just recommend taking off as little as possible.
