Question Steering thunks...

So it has been so nice here in Chicago, I took her out for a little spin the other day. I noticed when I turn the steering wheel side to side... maybe 4 inches in either direction... I feel a slight thunk coming from the steering somewhere. Any ideas what this is?

Thanks!

I have the same problem but haven't investigated into it.
All I can think is the tie rod ends or it's the steering rack itself.

I'm pretty sure it's between the rack and the hub, it doesn't do it when the front end is on jackstands so there's no load or friction on the wheels.

Go post your question in AAG on ls1.com, see what happens.

When dealing with steering problems, it could be anything and everything that is between your hands and the front wheels. Where should we start guessing?

CHeck your front swaybar mounts, if they break or crack, they can make thunks.

Broke driver's side swaybar mount before, replaced the mount with a stronger one recommended from Sam Strano (stranoparts.com) and that isn't the problem.
