what is the downside to this set-up?
what is the downside to this set-up? What would be the downside to using koni SA and the front and rear ground control "coil over" set-up with 550 lb linear rate springs in the front and 150 or 160 lb linear rate springs in the rear. Wouldn't this be a similar set-up to Strano or "new" BMR springs with Koni SAs, but still allow some adjustability?
I don't see a downside, except for maybe cost. In the future if you want to go stiffer or softer, you have a lot more (and cheaper) options. Go for it.
I have the GC setup in the front with 600# springs just a tad lower than Strano springs, and I'm very happy with it. I have Koni SA's in the front and 3rd gen Koni's in rear.

Yes, you definitely gain adjustibility, however with that adjustibility, you need to ensure your corner-weighting and cross-weight is going to be usable for you. You also need to take care not to screw up your suspension geometry too much with going after looks, unless you don't mind a few significant tradeoffs.
Also, bear in mind that Koni doesn't like to play nice when warranty issues arise if they can detect damage from misuse of a coil-over modification. Not that you should be afraid, but it's something I've confirmed directly with Koni NA.
