Getting lower with Strano/koni Setup
Hey guys, I recently installed strano springs/ koni 4/4s and love how the car responds to handling now. The only thing I dont like is the fender gap between the front tires. Does anyone know or has anyone done the heater hose mod in the front before? I have read before that the lower perch on the konis is not good to run with the stranos. lets hear your input!

If i am not mistaken the heater hose mod is only in the rear
Lower perch is your only option. Rear you can do isolator to lower it.
I have been toying with the idea of doing heater hose in the rear and lower perch in the front. MY car sits abnormally high and it bothers me. I want my car dumped.
Strano advised me not to because of less travel in the rear and you can break the shock in the front. Im not really sure how or why, I would like to see someone try this. I don't DD my car and it rarely sees bumpy roads.

I believe my springs settled down a lil bit over the year. I think I've read that this doesn't happen with Strano springs but I think I remember there being a larger gap last spring.

I am thinking I will have to go bigger wheel/tire combo. I want 19's but unsure of tire profile. Here are some pics:

I guess two inch gap is too big for my liking!

so i was looking at tire sizes for the bfg gforce t/a kdw 2 (which is what i have)
currently the overall diameter on my tires are 25.6" ( 275/35/18)
the tire size that I would like to get would be around a 275/35/19 which has an overall diameter of 26.5". So by simply changing tire size I can get my 2" gap closer to 1" which I could probably live with lol. What are you guys' overall tire diameter and size? thanks!

I started out with an Eibach ProKit/OE DeCarbon set up for the first 4 years on my Z-28's life. I put the Eibachs on when the car was a couple of months old. I didn't initially realize that the DeCarbon shocks were that bad, but on the other hand, who throws away brand new shocks?
In 2000, I replaced the DeCarbons with a set of SLP Bilsteins, and was much happier with the ride/handling. Recently, while the car was still off the road for the winter, I installed a Strano/Koni set up. While the car is still off the road, due to my less than "top speed" attack of a few oil leaks, I can safely say that the car sits about 1/4-5/16" higher with the Strano springs than the Eibach springs.
The car was by no means "slammed" with the Eibachs, but put simply, the car is a tad higher with the Stranos. My "ground-to-fender opening peak" is 26 3/4" in front and 27" in the rear.

your right! I dont want the car slammed, I just want it to look proportionate. The rear springs tucked the wheels in wheel well very nice while the fronts have a bigger gap. Just looks awkward to me

Didn't feel like starting a new thread, so I figured I'd ask in this one.
I recently got a set of Strano springs from a member on here and I'm not putting them on until I get appropriate shocks.
My question is, what is a good shock to run without drying my bank account? $300 each for a Koni shock, while I'm sure is worth it but, I can't afford that. The car doesn't see much road time, but when it does I typically drive it pretty hard. I do some road racing with it(LOVE Road America) and I occasionally drag race.
Help me out fellas, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Just do the "Upper Mount Mod" up front and put the Koni SA's on the lower perch, and since your car sits abnormally high it'll only drop the front down to about 26.2". In the rear do the "Hose Mod" and install some koni 55mm bumpstops directly on the koni shock shafts then remove the factory bumpstops.

I did the Upper Mount Mod because I thought it only increased shock suspension travel. I don't remember hearing it lowered the vehicle?

It doesn't, but it allows you lower your car more without worrying about bottoming the front shocks. Like if you use lowering springs on the Koni SA lower perch.
FYI, I corrected my previous post.
