Then I suggest you remove all that un-manly weight.

Mitch,

I seem to remember reading a post from someone (not sure who or what message board it was on...possibly here) who was excited that they bought new rotors and had them turned to the minimum spec and saved 2 lbs per rotor. Your thoughts on weight removal sparked my memory of that paticular post.....

I'm just glad those types stay at the straightline venues and not on the track with me.

Put it on for looks????? You have GOT to be kidding, or have more $$ than brains.

A STB will keep the front wheels parallel. Even in drag racing, where the front end lightens up under accelleration, when it drops back to normal height, if one wheel is loaded more than the other, a STB will assist in "pointing" the straggler in the right direction. Also, in the case of an emergency, it will assist in steering and directional control.

The ten pounds or so it weighs is not going to have ANY measurable effect on your performance, and it may save your life.

Now what I want to know is where that idiot is that turned his rotors to min spec to save a pound or two - I don't want to be anywhere they are driving - If they do this to a race car, I can't imagine how dangerous their street cars are! Geez!

That has got to be the most ridiculous conclusion I have ever read. What are you smokin'?

How in the hell does a solid mounted bar, mounted ABOVE the upper A-Arms, and nowhere near the sway bars, help control steering and body roll?

How about we install a huge vertical stabilizer to control slides? How about outrigers, to limit body roll?

I want hard data ... facts ... any kind of scientific conclusion. Not some CO induced halucination you've had on chassis dynamics.

Stay tuned ... this should be good ....

Why should he prove he's right if you can prove he's not?

p.s. i know nothing about it so don't ask me to prove anything

BTW, drag racers can go over 300 mph in less than 1/4 mile
road racers can go 500 miles and not break 200 mph

I've gotta go with Mitch on this one....

The post be emarkay seems to indicate that F-bodies are not safe with out a strut tower brace. This is far from correct. The best it can hope to achieve is to eliminate some flex from the inner fender area that is probably less than 1/4" of deflection to begin with. Now, with that said, I am a supporter of the STB (unlike Mitch....), but it is not a miracle cure. Hell, if it did everything you say, it should drive my car for me.....

I'm difficult, hard headed and running on almost no sleep (I just drove to Ohio from Daytona this morning....but the 24 hr race was great, between rainstorms.....) and refuse to play nice with others.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought all the STB was designed to do on an f-bod was eliminate cowl flex which causes all those wonderful rattles in our dashes.

I have yet to see any improvement in steering response or cornering ability.

It did not hurt or help my 1/4 mile times, but then again I am in a fully loaded Z so I guess the few pounds with other weight removal could help. The driver could afford to lose a few more pounds than the car.

I wondered where you had been.
Then I thought I saw you choreographing the stops on that one Yellow C5R.
Sweet!

I spent all weekend helping Lou, Louis and the gang build his WC C5.
