Hub bearing noise?
While changing the break pads and rotors on my car I noticed that when I turn the hub on the passenger side I hear a not real loud but audible noise from the bearing. This noise is only on that side.
Is this normal or should I remove the hub and inspect the bearing?
I would hate to go through the trouble of repacking the bearing if this is common and not a problem.
Thanks

front or rear? I just had the bearing replaced in my car in the rear. It's not an expensive part, but I'd recommend getting it done by a shop as you have to remove the axle from the rear end by breaking into the differential and then you have to pull the bearing, and press fit a new one in place. If you're still under warranty they should take care of it for you.

Any kind of bearing noise is bad.
Put the wheel back on. and cinch it up with a couple of wheel lugs. Don't worry about teh brakes.
Now, grab the outer edges of the tire and see if you can feel or hear any play when trying to make the tire wobble.
The hub comes out by removing those 4 bolts and the ABS wiring harness.

It is just audible when I spin the hub. It actuall sounds like a rattling inside. There is no way I could hear it while driving.

So no one told me this..I learned in the newbie forum (head hung head low in embarrisment) This is a sealed bearing? So all I need is a new hub and I dont have to pack the bearings?

You can't pack the bearings. You must buy the whole hub/sensor combo. They're $136.XX at Autozone, made by Timken. When mine went out they had an audible grind type noise while I was driving if I were to turn the wheels anywhere out of a straight line. I replaced both. Problem solved.

You may also want to check and see if you have some rust particles hitting on the wheel speed sensor. By the looks of your picture you may have dislodged some of this at teardown. The bearing should maka a roaring if it is going bad.

If you're not getting any play when you tug on the wheel and no audible or sensory vibrations when you turn the car out of a straightline while driving then NO, I wouldn't no replace them.
Once you get play in the wheel when you tug on them or when you experience the noise I described prior would I replace them.
Mine were replaced at 84XXX miles (the car had over 2000 drag strip passes on them).
