Default thread sealer on hard brake line threads?

i am replacing all of my hard brake lines on my 2000 Z. should i use blue thread sealer on the threads to help prevent leaks? i didn't know how brake fluid reacted with thread sealer.

Shouldn't need thread sealer on brake lines. I've never used it with no problems. I'm assuming you are talking about the flare nut.

The threads don't make the seal - the flares do. No sealer needed, nor would it do any good.

What they said. I just redid my rear brake line with none. The original lines didn't have any sealer either.

If you really wanted to be super-cautious (which I personally would not), you could use Loctite PST on the threads. It acts more like a thread lubricant to prevent thread "galling", and allows you to tighten the connection as best it can be tightened without messing uo the threads. Again, this is rarely done on brake lines...but it is an option. Just make sure to get the threads ONLY...don't get any on the flare seat area.
