Default Brake MC off. Should you be able to push the piston in by hand?

Trying to determine if I have air in my lines. I have the brake MC off and I can push the piston in with my thumb about 1/4" or so.

Does this sound normal or does it indicate an air bubble?

Bench bleed the master, and go do the lines, young padawan. Sorry I watched Star Wars.. Kill me now, those later movies sucked compared to the first ones, yes i'm old.
