Default Long or short TQ arm for Road race?

Pretty simple question. Trans mounted type (long) or tunnel mounted type (short) for road course racing......like Laguna Seca, Infinion ect.....

Opinions? Facts? Experience?

Short arms help putting power down but promote rear wheel hop on hard braking.
Long arms the opposite is true pretty much. It comes down to where you bring the instant center of the suspension.
There is a detachable torque arm out there that bring the best of both worlds.
It is one of the most expensive torque arms I think there is
Non sponsor though....

We always recommend the longer torque arm arms for this type of driving. Like mentioned above the longer arm will help will reduce brake hop while the shorter arms can actually induce it. Also with the round bushing style on the longer arms it will allow the item to roll and will not bind like the shorter arms may.

Would it be safe to say, it would be good if we could have a short torque arm under accelleration and then have the car quickly switch to a long torque arm when braking?

I'm no expert, but the decoupled torque arm I think was designed to "sort of" act this way. It acts like a short torque arm under accelleration and then not quite a long arm under braking.. it does something funny with the instant center of the car so that weight shifts in a good way. I've heard the decoupled torque arm can be hard to setup.

Longer is better like UMI stated. I have an LG one with the spherical bearing, but you can't really find them easily anymore. I don't think there is any need to change the pinion angle if your looking to do this type of driving.
