Default Was going to do the heater hose mod......

I ended up cutting the rubber cushion instead. I used an angle grinder to start the cut only about 1/4 of an inch and then a hacksaw to slice off the amount. Im running ground controls in the rear and set all the way down the car in the rear still needed to come down about 1/2 inch or so. Thought I would try 1/4 inch off the cushion and just re-use it and see how it sits first. WIll report tomorrow when the rain dries !!!

heater hose would have saved you a ton of time over grinding the stock isolators

I had the hose mod and it wasnt low enough for me so being that I had an extra set of springs I went ahead and cut 1 coil AND used the hose on it. I think the stance it perfect for me and it rides just as it did before. I read all the Do's and dont's on cutting the spring and figured I would test it out for myself. I think it came out ok....plus if I didnt like it I have a low mileage set of springs and shocks I got for free.

If you have a 98-02 you coulda just used the 93-96 isolators. They're about 1/2 the height of the 98+ isolators.

What a pain that must have been, cutting all that rubber. I can't imagine. Like stated above, there is much easier and faster ways to go about this, especially since you will be doing it twice on each isolator.

Now there's a good tip. What are the negatives to going this route compared to stock?

wow wish i knew that before!! Reason I chose to cut the isolators were two fold. one was the first two coils were together so i dont know how i was going to slide hose on. second the isolator keeps the top of the coil 'flat' which i wanted. I think the drop worked good i only wanted 1/4 inch. if i need more i need to do the hose or get early year isolators
