Default Convertible rear shocks - access?

Looking at the install writeup I've been able to
find, it's about a hardtop. The convertible has
a bunch of differences about the rear seat /
trunk area and I can't find the top of the shocks
right off. Anybody know of a convertible-related
howto, or just what-all has to be done to get at
the rear shock top nuts?

The bolts are right behind the rear seat below the shoulder belt reel housings. Fold down the seat pull the carpet back. remove the foam stuck in a 'hole' then you will see the bolts. Theres a good convertible forum on chirpthird.com and ls1.com Good luck.

Holy Thread Ressurection Batman!

This may seem like a silly question, but how in the world do you get the carpet past the shoulder belt housings? I can't seem to pull enough slack from the carpet to get it over the belt housings.

You have to remove the plastic covers from the reels. The flat part facing the front of the car pops off. Remove the pushpins on the side then the rest of the cover slides off.

Or, if you prefer, skip all of that and find the slits in the carpet. You can access to shock bolts through these slits.

Thank you very much for the reply. I did find the answer elsewhere, but i'm shocked at how rarely anyone mentions those slits, and says "just roll the carpet back like in a coupe."

flip the rear seat down... and it's behind the carpet.
