Default Popping noise while steering

My car has been pulling for a while now and I'm about to lower it and get an alignment, but in the last few months my car has developed a popping noise when I turn the wheel either direction more than 180 degrees. If I'm coming out of my driveway forward and turn my wheel to make a right or left turn, pop-pop. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? After my clutch install I saw that one of the plastic panels under the front had fallen down some and was hung up in the boots on the rack. We pulled that panel out and I took it off and it still pops.

I was thinking that or the tie rods but don't they normally squeak and not pop?

it could be...

Ball Joints
The Steering boots are cracked/broken.
or...

The bolts to the caliper mounting brackets have become loose. Ive had this happen a number of times.

Good news; it was a cable that was loose from it's bracket near the driver-side header that was getting caught on the steering boot and making the popping noise against the bracket. Wooo- that's a relief.

my car was doing this a few months ago. but ever since it got warm outside it stopped. im going to wait and see what happens when it gets cold again. i have heard/read that ball joints are effected by the cold, when they shrink when bad thats when you hear the popping. so that what i think is going on with mine.
