Shocks shouldn't matter at all for how the car sits. The only suspension things that should matter with how the car sits are springs, isolators, or perches (worn or not), you can compress shocks just by pushing on them, they just control the rate at which they compress/rebound....sometimes cars sit different than others, no matter what the suspension mods are.

 

^ Never thought of the car to car comparison on them sitting diff. even with the same setup though.

 

Stock vs. stock, some cars sit higher from the factory. I can't see all of them changing much even adding aftermarket springs, etc.

 

Problem solved, just need an alignment.

 

never really noticed it before, but the 98+ front fender openings are hideous. they could have at least made them SOMEWHAT round.... looks like someone hooked tow chains to the fenders and pulled the car on a rollback.

 

Lift your hood, stand on your radiator support and bounce up and down. That's what I do whenever I need to settle my front-end after it's been off of the ground for whatever reason.

Haven't done it yet, that's what I'm looking for now a good alignment shop. I put 1" aluminum spacer under the spring.

 

If you're happy, I'm happy... but now it looks high to me in the back. I thought it looked pretty good before. Proof positive that "to each his own"

 

The height is just fine w/ me, I am more concern on how the ride is and I love it...By the way I will ordering some swaybars from you Sam after tax returns.

Mine looks the same with stranos/bilsteins. I haven't driven it much since when I lowered it, so I really hope it settles down a bit on the front. But I also removed my AC and it has a lighter hood so it might stay like that

 

You know, I've got the Koni/Strano's and have come to the conclusion that some cars (mine!) sit differently from others. The only time my car sat perfectly level was with the factory 4x4 springs. I'm convinced that mine sat higher from the factory than most others, too. New lowering springs didn't lower mine that much (overall) and my SLP springs' rear "sag" or "nose high" attitude, is the way my car was built. I wonder if my rear spring perches were welded, from the OE supplier, "lower" on the axle than others', at this point. I believe it's called production tolerences.

 

There are absolutely production tolerances at play here and pewter2002 is right on. Look at the huge variance in ride heights of stock cars. This is why nobody will say their springs will lower the car *EXACTLY* any amount because you just cannot know for sure. Take 20 cars and some will not sit like the majority. Can be due to extra weight added in the rear, dead or missing spring isolators, spring perch locations varying a bit, springs having a little variance (but that's never more than 2% and one reason I stick with Vogtland for making my springs, much tighter control on that than others... Eibach is only withing 5% of their RACE springs)....

Mike's02Z28M6's car is what most cars look like. Empatho's is definitely the exception and I'd start by wondering if the isolators are in the car. Of course the lighter front end makes it sit a bit higher too, which certainly will make it look "nose high", but the springs were not designed with cars who've stripped weight from the front. Can't cover every instance.

Ahhh, that's not a defect. How come all engines don't put out exactly the same horsepower?

 

What springs would you recommend then for someone who wants a solid spring for a summer DD and occasional autocross or mile runs but has a gutted fbody?

Also, what is the lowest weight you would recommend your springs to then? Thanks

 

My car does have the isolators and they were in good condition. Its ok though, because I love the way the car drives now with your springs and bilstein shocks. I enjoy driving my car now, the car feels more tight and planted and it also helped get rid of some squeaks. Now I'm debating getting some subfame connectors.
