How hard to bleed/replace brake master?
#2
Not hard at all. The last reman I bought came with good written instructions and the adaptors and hoses to properly bench bleed.
Basically:
install the plastic adaptors in the ports of the new MC
connect the plastic lines to the adpators
route the other end of the lines into the reservoir
place the MC in a vice (I used soft jaws)
angle the front of the MC slightly downhill (so that no air pocket is trapped in the nose)
fill the reservoir about 3/4 full of fluid
plunge the piston in the MC to remove air (I used a 3/8" drive 6" extension)
after about 10 or so plunges, no more air bubbles were seen coming out of the lines
took out of vice
installed on booster.
removed adaptors and installed lines
bled system.
good to go.
Suck as much of the fluid out of the old MC to reduce the mess made.
Because the lines that connect to MC are at the highest point, very little fluid is lost in the system and it doen't take long to bleed the entire system once the new MC is installed.
