Question Rebuilding Koni DA's

I picked up a set of Koni DA's from a 98 Camaro last night and was wondering if you guys know of any good places to have them rebuilt, and what the pricing will be, or if I should just go through Koni's authorized list of rebuilders one by one until I find one with a good price...

Any idea on what it will cost?

Truechoice, Performance Shock, Pro-Parts and Koni are the ones I know of that will rebuild them.

I've heard a lot of ppl, uncluding Sam Strano himself say that he's seen plenty of authorized Koni rebuilders screw up and the only one he trusts is Koni themselves. Food for thought

Konis hold up pretty well. Maybe the ones you have are fine? Any reason for wanting to rebuild?

Does anybody know how much it is going to cost to have these rebuilt?

They are not fine. They were on a car for 5-10 years, and according to the previous owner, he swapped them out for Bilsteins and his wife said it felt a million times better.

Yeah, I got those exact ones that you were looking at. I am in no rush to rebuild them since I already have a decent street/canyon setup on my car, and am doing a motor build right now (so, can't really afford to rebuild these right now). I am thinking of going with a Ground Control or Global West coilover setup with these.

Zex.. ProParts is local.. Located up in the Valley.. I need to get mine rebuilt as well.. They quoted me as of today 2-3 weeks..

They offered me 20% off parts since I have my own shop. If you want, I can send your shocks in with mine and get you the 20% as well.

Let me know.

Would it be possible they had them set wrong? If they were set wrong, a bilstien would feel a million times better. 5-10 years... well I've had my Koni SAs for 5 years and they aren't wearing out anytime soon. I bet they are probably fine. Just thinking you might be able to save yourself a little time and money here....

I think more people who understand this stuff should chime in!!!

settings could play a huge difference in feel, though in that amount of time the nitrogen charge may be weaker. I had my da rebuilt on the front, the one messed up not too much later, had to take it apart but he fixed it for free and I havent had problems since. Still looking for the appropriate settings, and the bilsteins may have felt a lot better as they arent as harsh.

I don't understand why you don't believe me when I say they are shot and need a rebuild. Not only were the rears originally revalved to be softer than stock, but the exterior lower bushings are busted to hell, and one of the bodies may need to be replaced due to a swaybar rubbing on it. These were used on a hardcore autox car for those 5-10 years. Thanks for trying to save me some money, but it's money that needs to be spent.
