my car has the abs and brake lights on all the time and my cruise works. i did have a problem with the cruise not working awhile back and i found out that the brake sensor was not fully engaging. when i was driving down the road and pulled my brake pedal out, towards me, and hit the cruise it worked. hope this helps.

I don't think so. I believe the engine, body, air bags, and brakes all have separate computers that control the systems.

BTW - If you have a BRAKE light, the car shouldn't be driven anyway...
