Default Edelbrock Torque Arm

Are they any good? I have an opportunity to pick up a used adjustable one for a good price. I don't know if it will help me at my level since I'm cutting pretty good 60's with the stocker. Opinions???

I have an non adjustable one, I'd say they're every bit as good as almost any other tubular torque arm. Any brand is definitely an improvement over the stocker.

In my opinion they are not nearly as well built as our BMR torque arm and this is for a couple of reasons. The rear mounting bracket they use where the torque arm bolts to the rear end is considerably weaker than the one we produce due to the size plate they use to build it and lack of bracing. I know with the older Edelbrock torque arms they used a smaller tube diameter to build their torque than we do, I know we us 1.25" diameter tubing so you may want to measure the tubing. Also they use the stock style formed metal end that slides into the bushing, this is not nearly as good of a design as using the tubular style front on the torque arm. Using the tubular style front spreads out the load were as the the formed metal front piece that the Edelbrock torque arm uses puts a lot of pressure in one small area due to the design. I have had more than a few customers bend and break their Edelbrock torque arm so I would definitely see what your other options are becasue there are much better designed and performing torque arms out there like the BMR one we build. I hope this helps out a bit.

Yes there is a couple guys I know still running the stock torque arm running those 60 foots amazingly enough. An aftermarket BMR or UMI would not flex like the stock one would though under launch. I believe the plate on the back brace of the UMI and BMR are thicker than the Edelbrock.

Auto cars can 60 like that will stock suspension. M6s cars cannot. Big difference between the two drivetrains and what they break.

I have even had some auto guys bend the factory torque arm but you are absolutely correct with the T56 guys having more issue with the stock suspension.

I have broken two adjustable edlebrock TA's and seen another break on a friend's car.

No thanks....haha

UMI/BMR are great choices. Midwest and Madman also make some more race-oriented pieces as well.
