Default LT1 brakes...

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I thought I might as well get a professional answer, I was jacking my car up today to take my rims off and thoroughly clean them, and as I was turning my front wheels, it felt as though the brakes are applying slightly..when I turn them, there is a slight rubbing noise and the wheels stop turning once I take my hand off them. Is this normal? Or are the brakes not adjusted properly? If it matters, my ABS light will sometimes illuminate and stay that way until I turn my car off.

Any help is appreciated thanks.

Thats what I thought, I wanted to ask and make sure though. I want to know what is causing it though...bad pads, rotors, etc..

its normal. disc brakes will drag just a tad and you will hear it if you turn it by hand. if you turn it by hand when its jacked up and its very difficult to turn, thats not normal. but jacking up the front end and turning the wheel, there will be a very slight drag, but it definitely wont be difficult to turn by hand

edit: as for whats causing it, caliper slider pins. pull the caliper off, remove the pins from the caliper, the bolts that held it on, and lube the **** out of it with antiseize

I'm pretty sure it's not normal for the wheel to stop as soon as he stops spinning it. Think about it, that would be like riding down the highway with your foot slightly on the brake...

Mine were the same way until I replaced both calipers. When the car was jacked up I had to use both hands to turn the tire for the passenger side, and the driver's side would go about 1 and 1/2 rotations and stop. I did the same thing on my mom's trailblazer and her wheel spun fine for several rotations. Try what lt16spd1 said first, but replacing my calipers did it for me.

There is some friction in the brakes, its normal. I can spin my wheels with my hand no problem and they stop after I stop pushing.

Then your calipers or hub is fucked up. Should spin a few times before stopping or you have DRAG. Not normal.

alright so I'll take a look at my calipers (my rear pads need to be replaced anyways) but another question is do I have to bleed the brake system after I take apart the calipers?

Why would he disconnect the caliper to swap pads? I will say in some cases if the caliper has over 80-90k be careful when pushing the piston back into the caliper, the rubber o ring can have issue going back into place and could kink or rip. If the ring looks dry rotted at all i would replace BOTH calipers. As for the wheel drag if your tire is stopping as soon as you release it then i would suspect contaminated fluid in line or malfunctioning caliper.
