Strut Tower Brace Bar?
#22
I installed a STB at the same time I did the SFC and there was a difference plus I had some "rattling" from the dash that went away. It is a cheap add-on and easy install. Many will say it did nothing but I think it is worth the $$ as long as you don't buy $200-$300 one. I got one from either UMI or BMR for around $60 ish in a combo pack with SFC.

This is funny.... Im reading this thread and I put on a Hotchkis STB tonight... I had to put the car on blocks then lift it with a jack cause it was about 1/4" too damn long... Pissed me off at first but then I got to thinking what its purpose was so I lifted the car under the Kmember and HOLY ****.. the damn thing fit..... I also have a ttop and I have the rattles and other squeaky **** that seems to be worse in the cooler weather... Ill tell you if it makes a difference or not. its definitely a nice visual upgrade. And dont say anything about the added weight... it weighs 5-7lbs and thats an over estimate Im sure.
I also paid $70 for mine locally..

The increase in performance you will is in your head.. like tb bypass. Lol
I have read quite a bit on it. For whatever reason however our suspension is set up/acts they do nothing.
It's been a few years since I read into it, sorry for the lack of support.

Well, I drove the **** out of it this morning... I have a ttop and I can honestly say I dont have as many rattles. The rattles/vibrations are more pronounced now that the weather has cooled so I definitely noticed a difference in the interior noise. I would like to say it acted better on the on/off ramps but my experience may be because I have !swaybar. Maybe that is why it felt a bit different. I also have 150k shocks/springs so Im sure if I stretched a rubberband across my strut towers it would make some kind of improvement. Overall, id say its a 80% cosmetic and 20% functional upgrade. I like the noise reduction...

in-stalled a simple BMR bar(one bar going from one tower to the other) at the same time i did my chromoly sway bars from spohn. sway bars made a huge difernce in launching, cornering, and high speed lane changing. the bar...just looks cool lol. i took it off for a few days and forgot it was there, thus my theory of being not very useful. SFC will be like night/day.

Ok, so for what reason do people put them on? Cause if you clowns say there is no gain, then how is it different from a ricer mod? I know a lot of guys on here have them so are they just putting them on just to have one? I have less rattle in my ttops, that alone makes it worth it...

I installed one and got 2mpg increase in fuel economy.
So I put one on my truck and got an increase in towing capacity.
After I installed one on my lawn mower, the blades were noticebly sharper.
I bolted one on top of my dishwasher and the dishes came out significantly cleaner.
It's a must have with a thousand uses!

Mine did nothing(and I can slip it on and off easily, no need to jack the car up like some claim), and neither did SFC's for that matter, and I don't drive my car lightly.
If you want less body roll and more turn in get [properly matched] swaybars.
If you want a more solid, "together" feeling car, and eliminate rattles get good shocks.
If you want better ride, overall handling, control, and stability get good shocks.
If you want less front end dive when braking get good shocks.
If you want something to hold on to when working on your engine get a STB.

smartass....
Its a newbie mod mistake, but does make a great brace to hold onto when working on the engine.
