Default SLP Bilsteins, question.

My car is approaching 70,000 miles and it's riding pretty rough. I'm sure the suspension is damn near worn out now and I need to replace some of it. I've heard SLP bilstein shocks are the best replacement ones to go with. So I guess my question is, can I just buy the shocks? I saw a set of 4 for $379.99. Do I need anything else when replacing them?

Slp bilstein aren't the best but they are probably the best replacement shock. I just put mine on last week and I love the improvement it made for me. The ride is so much more comfortable. As far as best shock, I hear koni is great for the adjustability. I just dont need that right now.

If you are on a budget Koni's are not the way to go. If you aren't then they are just about the best.

I am on a budget, cannot afford Koni's. Glad to hear the good results on Bilsteins. So just the shocks then? Will new shock plates come with them? Are new plates required?

konis could be the best but is just to much for shocks,
my car has 127k miles on stock shocks im going with bilstein, imo are the only way to go..
unless you have enough money, buy konis,,

I have these and they are good shocks for the money. I am lowered so durability issues might pop up, but I don't know if that will happen.

Thanks for all the help guys. Just one last question, what do you usually pay for Bilsteins and what's the best place to get them?

Doesn't have to be SLP Bilsteins either.
Bilsteins are just that, Bilsteins.
Find the best price as they vary quite a bit.

Not the best but theyre a very good shock for the money.

Thats a good price. I got mine from WS6 store, they might be a lil cheaper.

I would get new upper mounts for the front shocks from your local auto parts store. Also check your coil springs, especially in the front. I had one that had a broken coil at the botom so I ended up replacing the springs as well.

Dude you got to read up more on your car, its hard to follow you and help when you don't know what your talking about fully. This site alone has a massive amount of knowledge just clicks away. Don't be that guy who just keeps taking the lazy post a thread way to find information that's been recycled constantly on this site alone.

Clickity click click click!

And I'm not trying to be a douche, I just feel for the guys who put time and effort into tutorial threads for questions just like this. Before I went when my spring/strut setup I had over 5 windows open reading tech threads about setups and whatnot, and like everyone else most of this stuff is on a budget!

Yeah well I'm not trying to be a douche either but I've already done a good amount of research on this. I started this thread to get some opinions and last bits of information and I got just what I needed. So your post is not needed.

if everything comes apart like its supposed to, the shocks are all you need. if the front mounts are rusted to hell or torn up you may need to replace them. you won't know until you take it apart.

Of course they aren't around this forum for help and advice... and my price isn't exactly out of line.
