Default ? on installing lower spring mount on front shock

I bought a set of SLP Bilsteins for my Camaro after one of the front shocks' shaft/nut was corroded beyond re-use. Instead of fighting to get the upper (and therefore lower) spring mounts off, I just bought new ones at O'Reilly's. However, when I went to install the lower mount on the shock, it wouldn't slide on at all. I tried using a hammer to lightly tap it on, hoping that once it got started it would seat properly, but it was way too tight.

I reused the stock mounts on my driver's side shock, and the lower mount was snug, but in no way did I have to force it. If I kept using a hammer to work the passenger side mount down, it would have chewed all the paint off and I might not have even gotten it seated properly. I assume this is not normal? Maybe the aftermarket piece I got from O'Reilly's is slightly out of spec?

Hmmmmm. I have the same shocks and I had to beat on my lower mounts also. I reused the stock ones. It chewed all the paint off the shock, but it went on. It seems ok. I have had those shocks on for about 5 months or so now.

Try greasing it to help it along. That sucks though.

For what its worth....I took a dremel to the inside of the new mount and remove some materials and it slide on snugly.
