I'm thinking of ordering one when they come out. On second thought hell no.

Oh well weight is safe in the minds of the big three today.

They also know that people won't buy a stripped down model, and the dealers can't make money off of them either.

They do make a stripped down version it's a body in white. Then again a 6cyl model gutted add a crate motor ,say an LSX 454 or a 376 and bingo spank a ZL1 today. Just like the Cobra Jets are at the track.

Exactly.. I sure don't want to buy a new car and cut it up. I have one of those already. I want something like the COPO a race ready , but make it a street legal car. I guess with all the regulations and such its just not worth it for GM to do it.

Gets on my nerves a bit, Ford can do it, wish GM would...

Can't be resonably fixed until it moves off of ZETA II. The weight is cooked into the chassis.

Buddy of mine told me he saw on Camaro5 where a guy got his down to 36xx lbs. Full exhaust, maybe new wheels (can't remember) removed back seat, stuff from the trunk etc. Said he really didn't remove anything too crazy. Sounds do-able, BUT I didn't see the thread myself so I'm not totally sure

That would be around 3-400 lbs. My idea would be to remove all the air bags, lighter muffs, glass or carbon hood, new drive shaft, better frt seats, axe the rears. Lets see what else. Headers might be lighter the stock manifolds?

Then you can loose the radio and speakers amps etc. Here we go again LOL.

Weight added a 6 pt bar, oil cooler , some suspension pieces..

I'll have to see if he can link me to it, I think the factory exhaust is actually somewhat heavy. I know my long tubes were lighter than stock manifolds

not to mention the 5th gen has big *** trash can mufflers

We are talking about a factory produced car, that will be sold to legitimate buyers.

I know that. I'm just saying I wish GM would do it.

I believe it starts at just over $37,000.

***EDIT: from the Inside Line article:
Better yet, the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS with the 1LE starts at $37,035 including destination, which makes it, ahem, nearly $6,000 less than a Boss 302, much less the Boss Laguna Seca.

Considering how much less the starting price of the 1LE is compared to the Boss, it would have been nice to see Chevrolet offer a couple different engine options for it. LS3, Hotcam LS3, and maybe even an LS7 would have been great. I can't imagine the hotcam LS3 adding much to the price, and even if the LS7 was a $8k option the car would be priced competitively with the Boss Laguna Seca edition.

Idk, just a thought.

Basically zero chance a Hotcam car passes California emissions. Therefore, a non starter.

Personally, I like Car & Driver's quote: "This package makes 1 Less Excuse not to buy a Camaro."

Kinda tempting, it goes on sale TODAY!

That would be a bad *** option but here in Cali it wouldn't fly because of all the hippies
