Default Handling Question

I have a 2001 WS6 with some nice suspension add-ons. Basically, it handles incredibly well in the corners. I have the same tires/wheels on all 4 corners: Hankook Ventus 275/35/18s on Corvette C6 wheels (9.5 inch). I would like to go wider on the rear and get some matching rims but wider to accommodate 305s or 315s. What would this do to my awesome handling in the corners?

I've heard that it can provoke understeer, but since your cars suspension sounds as if it's been setup properly, it may not be much of an issue for you.

Stay square. Look at the best autoX and SCCA fbodies like Sam Strano and they run 315's on every corner.....

It will increase the car's tendency to understeer. Can't say how much, but widening rear tires will increase understeer in general. Staying square is the best option for handling unless you have an oversteer issue. Staying square also let's you rotate your tires, which is good for tire wear.

Love this forum. Thanks so much for the input guys. I'm sticking with my current setup with 275/35/18s on all 4 corners.

How well do the 275s fit on 9.5 inch wide rims? I heard hankooks run skinnier than others

I used to have BF Goodrich KDWs and switched to the Hankooks just recently. I can't tell the difference in grip and they seem to fit the rims perfectly.
