Default Problem with rear brakes

So I'm almost done installing my brakemotive rotors and pads for the front and rear. I got the fronts done then went to do the rears and ran into a little problem.

When the rotor is removed, the axle spins freely. But when I put on my drivers side rotor and try to spin it, it catches and makes a grinding sound. I made sure my e-brake wasn't engaged. The bracket nor caliper aren't even on and it is still making a grinding noise. Is this normal?

Remove the cover from the axle and examine the contents.

Grinding sound is not normal...

Look for broken or loose pieces inside axle... rotate the differential while looking for damage/loose.

If you see no breakages or loose parts, can you determine if the grinding sound is coming from the inner (differential bearings) or outer (axle bearings) parts of the axle.

( you said the rotor is removed... so therefore the parking brake cannot be involved ).

The grinding sound only occurs when the rotor is on. When its off, it spins freely with no noise. When the rotor is on, it can make 3/4 of a rotation then it catches and grinds, then goes back to smooth once I spin it more, then catches on the same spot again.

Could the rotor be warped from the manufacturer?

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood, I don't know how I failed to read, please disregard my previous comments...

if rotor is on and your hear a noise, the parking brake shoe could be dragging the rotor's inside surface (where the parking brake shoe normally rides on)...

there is an adjuster which allows you to contract the parking brake shoe so it does not rub the rotor.

Oh that's good news! How can I adjust it? I was figuring it was the emergency brake, I drive a M6.

There's a star-shaped wheel.

With the rotor removed you will see the single-piece parking brake shoe wrap all the way around...

at the bottom (where the parking brake shoe ends come together) you will see a cylindrical (sort of) looking device (the parking brake shoe ends touch each end of this), on one end is the star wheel;

by turning the star wheel you can contract the parking brake shoe (I don't remember which way to turn it).

I ended up just not messing with it. Got the brakes on tonight. Can't hear a rubbing noise when I drive so I'm not gonna worry about it. I think it prob rubbed away at the metal and it's good now. Thanks for the help. If it's still an issue in the future I'll know how to resolve it.
