Default so why did my 98 z28 have a stiffer brake pedal than my 2000 ss?

i had a 98 z28 with 90000 miles on it....stock brake master, with new gm rotors and durastop pads......i loved how stiff the pedal was, and how the pedal barely moved to the floor........abs would kick in after maybe pushing the pedal an inch.......i now have a 2000 ss with 95000 miles on it.......had stock worn out brakes, then replaced with hawk pads and rotors, and the pedal is just as soft and spongy as it was with the old worn out brakes......i have to push the pedal id say 2 inches or so now to get the abs to kick in......nothing major, i just prefer a stiffer pedal, so how do i accomplish that?

stainless steel braided brake lines, better brake fluid, change the hawk pads to more aggressive pads.
