So my 98 TA wont stop shaking....I had the wheels balanced 3 times and it feels fine, no bent rim, my tie rods are new, bushings are good, my u joints are replaced. I have not replaced my shocks yet but I didn't think I needed too since I only have 50k miles and my car does not bottom out at all. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Can you be more elaborate?
What speeds does it shake at? Does it go away after a certain speed? Is it the front or back or both? If its the front, does the steering wheel shake?
Do you think you could have warped rotors? (very common on these cars with factory rotors) Drive shaft unbalanced?

On a side note, from a performance point of view your factory decarbon shocks needed to be replaced with 0 miles, although I highly doubt this has anything to do with your problem.

Shakes at about 55mph, my rotors are fine I break and it shakes less then lol my driveshaft is aluminum. and the shaking starts to decrease at higher speeds but it is still their and yes my steering wheel vibrates but not like the rest of the car.


Also I have noticed if I am going down a hill it does not shake and it feels way better....dont know why but yes I noticed that. And driving 70mph feels better than 55-65mph

If you have a cheap older wheel like I do, it was impossible for the wheel shop to balance properly. Maybe you got a bad wheel and the shop just tries their best to balance the wheel and doesn't tell you? What happens if you put on another set of wheels (if you can do that)

Right now I'm living with a really bad wheel shake around 65+ mph. I try not to drive on the highway too much

I thought it was the wheels too so I put my old torque thrust II wheels on and two of them are bent so I put them int he rear and it feels better on the steering wheel but the rear is bouncy when they are on, but when I have the originals on it feels better at highway and freeway speeds. So I dont know if I should just rotate the wheels and see if that makes a difference.

tire biz guy here. If your vibration is increasing and decreasing with different MPH settings that is usually a balance / uniformity issue. You can zero out a square w/ enough weight on some balancers. How often does your shop calibrate their balancers? Call around and see if you can find someone that can road-force balance the tires. Also make sure you clean / wire brush your mounting pads, re-check torque & pattern, air pressures. What brand / size tires & what type of wheels are you running?

I have sumitomo 275 / 315 on OE wheel's DD ZR1's that passed road force and they still feel / sound awful. I will try Nitto's 555 street next.

this will sound basic, but did you check your tire pressure??? Low tire pressure will cause a shake at certain speeds. Basic yes.... Overlooked..... ALWAYS

Could also be a busted belt in the tire. When I was in a shop that happened a lot after winter with all the pot holes.

Possibly an out of balance driveshaft.
