Default Upper contol arm question...help

My driver side upper control arm squeaks like crazy. Im doing the Ls1 brake swap and noticed that the upper arm on the driver side that squeaks is harder to move than the passenger side. So my question is this....should the upper arm move freely or be tight like the one that is squeaking?

Thanks in advance for all the feedback

Your bushings on both sides are probably bad. That rubber is now 17+ years old. My guess is the passenger side bushings are torn (which is why they move so freely) and the driver side is actually in a little better shape but not too far behind.

I'd get new bushings in those upper arms if I were you, and check the lowers while you have it all apart as well since they are just as old.
