I don't deny that Strano's with Koni shocks are a great setup.... But spending $2,000 on shocks and springs isn't practical for me. It seems there are enough people running bilsteins with strano's springs with decent (I know not the best) but decent results.

After looking at BMR's springs and seeing they are $250. I'm going with Strano's.

$2000? I do not understand where this comes from, I don't. A set of 4/4's and springs is $1248. IS that $500? No, but it's not $2000!

I hear this at least once a week. I don't get it. AS for who gives you better price, I really hope that isn't the only criteria. You are getting different products with different experience behind them.

94LS1B4C those from summit are double adjustables(DA) you really only need (SA) single adj

I also voted other....see sig for a great street set up and worth every $$. Cool part is you can build a great street performer suspension in stages. Only thing you NEED to intall togther is your front shock/spring package cause you only want to take it apart once. The rear install is cake.
But remember the shock/spring combo is the same as a good head/cam package they need to work well together. Sam developed his springs using Koni's,that's why they work so well togther. Add a set of his Hollow Sways and your golden.

See, the idea that you need DA's and all that is why you want to call me and talk things over. I will be glad to talk over the differences and why I think in most cases, DA's are not necessary. Even if they were, I sell them and a set of DA's and springs are STILL not that much.

I don't know about you guys, but I think that it's incredibly cool that the owner of a well-known company takes the time to personally answer questions and interact with individuals on a forum. Now THAT'S customer service!

Way to go, Sam; I wish that more of our politicians and elected officials were like you!

Thanks Z28RS. I try, and it truly tears me up when I'm blasted for trying to help. Thank you!

I'm curious why you say this. I have QA1 HAL shocks on my Formula and I'm quite happy with how it is on the street... even with 19" wheels on the car, it still rides pretty comfortably.

Can you explain your reasoning as to why you would avoid them?

This is been debated many many times. And im sure he will say the same thing I am now. They are non-gas charged drag shocks and compared to a gas charged sport shock like bilstien or koni (or even KYB AGX) they are no good. You may like the ride but what do you have to compare them with, just stock?
Ive personally been on QA1s before and hated them, overly loose and floaty while being jarring at the same time, awful feel and control.
Heres an example from a member on here a while ago who went from QA1s to konis, his car just didn't feel stable, was not balanced and rode terrible, all that changed when he swapped over:

Yeah, I haven't really been active over here for a really long time, so I haven't seen this debate. Appreciate the fast response.

And you're right, the only thing I have to compare them to is stock... not only that, but I went from a bone stock suspension to one with Eibachs, aftermarket sway bars, LCAs, and panhard bar pretty much overnight.. the suspension was so different I'd have to admit it would be hard to judge what differences came from which parts just on the old butt meter.

Reading all this stuff has me a bit intrigued now... The QA1s been on my car for 8 years now, suppose it's probably getting close to time to replace them anyway..

Well I no longer have the Bilstein shocks/struts. I did just pick up a set of Koni's SA. 8241-1139SP for the front and 8241-1140SP for the rear. We shall see how these work out. I was going to go with middle adjustment on front and full soft on rear? Seems to be the setup everyone is starting out with. I will be getting springs here in the near future, but who makes the best watt's link for our cars?

I have stock control arms and the car puts the power to the ground just fine. It rides well and takes corners very nicely (ie..no snap oversteer). If you need to get new bushings, Strano sells moog bushings (which I have read are the same as the 1LE bushings for our cars).

What sets the FAYS2 link out from the rest? Adjustable? I know the Midwest Chassis link is a fixed position, and I know how the link works.... I'm just wondering what would be the best link out there and why.

Midwest sells their own Watts link cause the Fays2 wont fit their axl tubes. So if you plan on keeping your stock 9 bolt or a 12 bolt a Fays2 will work and is just the best out there...you can read for yourself

Nice, my suspension setup is almost going to be identical to yours! Do you have a watts link? If you do or don't, how does your car handle? My setup is going to consist of 2001 WS6 with Koni SA, Strano springs, Strano front and rear adjustable sway bars, UMI roto LCA, UMI 3 point SFC, Fays2 Watts link, and a MWC driveshaft loop.

I have a very similar setup minus the SFC's. I'm very happy with all of it.
