Default Torque Arm Shocks

What torque arm should I look into?
I will be wanting a driveshaft loop.

What shocks?
I've been looking at QA1s but there is so many?
Just the single adjustable F and R series?

I saw a guy had problems mounting them the body of the shock was hitting the mount in the rear?

Weekend Cruiser/Strip.

Have a S60 with 4.10s that should be here in a couple weeks.
Will be running Bias Plys.

I assuming you are working with a T56 equipped vehicle from the post you made in the other thread? For someone looking to build a street/strip car I generally recommend using a full length torque arm along with a torque arm relocation crossmember because it keeps the good drivabilty of the vehicle but also will work well at the track. This setup will also also allow you to fine tune the instant center so you can make adjustments to help get the car to launch. This setup will also allow our bolt-in driveshaft loop to work.

I honestly prefer the Strange SA shocks over the QA1 shocks especially now that QA1 uses steel bodied shocks and Strange uses aluminum bodied shocks.

Hey Kyle, Pretty sure QA1 uses aluminum body on their single and double adjustable shocks..?

Original poster... I asked you a few questions in your thread in the LT1/LT4 section.

Thanks!

You are correct, Ryan. I believe there was some confusion with QA1 moving to steel on some of their shocks without notice. We weren't told anything, but QA1 no longer sells their 3rd-gen F-body STRUTS and Mustang STRUTS in aluminum. They began shipping them in steel sometime last year out of nowhere. There may be some sets of aluminum bodies out there, but we ship ours out direct from QA1. The part numbers went unchanged...which I disagree with because people looking for single replacements are getting a steel.

To our knowledge, this has not impacted the 4th Gen Camaro line, as QA1 said only its struts were moved over to steel because they handle side-loading better than the easily distorted aluminum. While many think the fronts of our cars have "struts" it is not correct. They have a shock.

Hey Kevin, I forgot about the struts.. and yes I am pretty sure you are correct on those being switched, I heard the same.

Yes a lot of people do tend to assume these are strut cars.

Thanks,
Ryan

Yes it is a T56.

I will try to post just in this thread since its under Suspension Sub forum.

How is the front end not a strut? If it has a spring perch on the tube and the spring fits over the tube?
Or is the front a coil over?

Sorry about the confusion guys Kevin and Ryan are right, I had my information mixed up with QA1.

The front end of a 4th generation f-body has a SLA style suspension which stands for short-long arm and it utilizes a shock rather than a strut. A strut style front suspension does not have upper a-arm like the 4th generation f-bodys have.

Right there is a Macpherson strut system.
Which does not have an upper A arm.
