Default Brake Rebuild Kit

I plan on getting my calipers powder coated, so I want to rebuild my calipers while I'm at it. The problem is that the rebuild kit (AC Delco #18026160) seems to be discontinued. Do you guys know of a place that sells these? I've tried gmpartsdirect and rockauto.

Rebuilding calipers seems to be a thing of the past. When I looked into doing the same I ended up needing to purchase new calipers.

So you bought new calipers, took them apart to get powder coated and then rebuilt them with the same seals and boots afterwords?

I've google it as well. Rockauto has one in stock, with none being ordered. All the others don't have any in stock.

^ Yea, you should be able to get these in the aftermarket. No need to buy "official" Delco seals. They probably buy them from the same source as the aftermarket and just put them in a Delco box. (Disclaimer, this isn't true with all parts, but caliper seals are more of a commodity.)

I only see the calipers for sale, not the seal and boot kits. Do you have a source? I've tried everything that I know of.

I want to get my calipers powder coated, so I need to disassemble the calipers. I guess my only option is to reuse the seals and boots. I guess that's ok?

This is one thing where its probably easier to just go to the store and talk to someone vs. try to find it on the internet. As SparkyJJO pointed out, every parts store will be able to get this stuff for you. The parts will cross over to multiple calipers, so an online retailer may have the part but you won't find it if their cross reference doesn't have every single model entered for it.

If you must see it on the internet first, go to Dorman's site and look up their part number. Just about every parts store in the country sells their stuff.

Thank you guys for your help, but I've turned to you guys because I've already searched all of the local parts stores (auto zone, advanced auto, etc.) and have requested it from gmpartsdirect, and a few other places online all to no avail.

newgmparts.net sent me this: "Unfortunately the part you are searching for has been discontinued by the Manufacturer. We have exhausted our extensive network of parts locators and vintage parts suppliers, but we were unable to fulfill your request at this time."

I also talked to summit racing, who says they will have to call Dorman monday morning to see if it is available. All roads are leading to talking to Dorman directly.

How many do you need? Enough for two stock, 98-02 F-Body calipers?

I am holding four 18066160 Caliper Repair kits in my hand. It takes two kits to rebuild a single 98-02 F-Car caliper.

Had these in my parts box for a couple years. They've been stored inside and out of any UV light. Used to rebuild stock calipers on my CMC Firebird till the rules allowed me to use C5 calipers.

If you will Paypal me $20 and PM me your mailing address, I will mail these to you early next week.

I guess parts guys aren't what they used to be... This shouldn't be that hard!

I see that the kit includes bolts. Do you if the stock bolts can't be reused? Maybe their included just have a bolt with thread locker on them....

Bolts I reuse, pins I do not. Greese the pins before inserting. Use loctite on all bolts.
