Thumbs up Out with Prokit.... In with BMR/Koni..

I love working on this car... it's soo damn easy.. I took my time w this and it felt like it flew.

Not bad I do say. The ride is dead level. I'm really impressed with the stance. And within a mile of the test drive I noticed a difference! It's not a harsh ride anymore! I doesn't slam or bottom out. It just rolls with the irregularities in the road. Got new rubber up front too. Point this car in a direction now and it WANTS to go there instead of fighting it and worrying about the back end breaking loose.

MUCH better! Weather is getting nicer so I'm gonna take it for a ride tmrw. I noticed too that the BMR springs didn't have to be compressed as much to get them into position on the shocks. The ProKit needed to be cranked way down before they loosened up on the old shock.

Anyway.. on to the pics..

Backs. Had the HH mod and the isolator to try and level it out. No avail. No HH and just the isolator in the back now.

My trick for getting the MC off. Loosen the ABS unit.

Fronts

My Strano Sway is rusting ... (Got both)

New 555Ex fronts.

Sorry for the bad pics. My 4s randomly takes amazing pics. And half of these weren't amazing..

Yeah. I couldn't salvage one of the fronts. Didn't try very hard tho. My strut mounts on the front are rusting tho. They're gonna have to get replaced eventually. Was gonna do it this time, but just been penny pinching. Loaded em up with Silicone spray this time to hopefully curb the rust.

And my rear tires look narrow as hell in that last pic. Even for 285s. They're 10.5"s. I gotta burn em off this summer and put some 305's on there. Maybe see if I can fit some 315's.

Beautiful Stance!!! Curious how'd it'd look with some custom vt rear isolators in instead of the stock rear isolators though.

May end up looking too low in the rear again.

You have 285's in the back and 315's in the front? How do they Konis feel compared to the Bilsteins?

I used a torq bit and a ratchet to remove the bolt under the master cylinder.

YES!! I was gonna sell the eibach/bilsteins for $250 shipped and get some UMI double roto LCA's.. but I had to cut one of the front shocks due to rust. Which sucked because they were still good. Oh well. I have one front shock now and two rears if someone wants the two backs.

285's in the front and 285's in the rear. 10 front 10.5 rear. The way it sat before would have rubbed if I went wider. I can probably go 305's in the back now. The bilsteins were a bit bouncy. Compression damping was ok, but the overall ride w the Eibach's was harsh.

CT roads weren't bad. And yes, the MA roads suck. I think I still need an alignment. Needs tie rod ends and probably ball joints... Not to mention new A-arms and Roto-joints. There's still a little bit of a wander at center. That's what my main problem was with the front end.

I still need axles and get the rear rebuilt. This thing needs gears BAD! Getting tired of the stock 3.42's. Been putting that off for a long long time.

Do you have long tubes? How's the ground clearance?

^ Yeah. I actually have a early set of SLP LT's. "Tuned length headers" Those are the kind that people avoid because of the ground clearance and the suspicion that they don't make the greatest power. I didn't have a problem with them with the prokit, but you just get used to which entrances and/or speed bumps you can drive over. My clearance is low, but it works fine.

I didn't notice a difference with the height difference w the tires. Had 275's before, but Nittos can run narrow, so I got 285's and they fit fine. Haven't had an issue yet w rubbing. Sidewall is about the same height. Can't tell if it's any different. Same 35 sidewall as before.

^ Will do.

Fresh pics. Had to wash the wheels off to see if it helped the stains/pitting. If you know of anything, check my thread in the wheel section.

That ground clearance doesn't look so bad. I bought the BMR/Koni combo and just went with the stock springs (lower perch up front and hose mod out back) for fear of low ground clearance.

^ Yeah, it's really not that bad. I've got some of the "worst" clearance headers and I don't have a problem. And I was about 1/2" lower before this too. Maybe even 3/4" lower. But I've been lowered since 2006, so you get used to it pretty quick.
