Default Stop tech performance brake pads

Have any of you guys on here tried these Stop tech street performance brake pads? I have Hawk hps pads on my 2000 t/a and was wondering if anybody has tried them compared to the hawk pads.

No, but from what I understand they will stop about the same but dust less.

I carry them (I need to get them on my site... ). They aren't bad, they are slightly less powerful than HPS's. Maybe a little cleaner. A little less $$$ @ $75 front, $50 rear. I'll get them up on the website now (well in the next 20 minutes or so).

Edit: Added....

Front: http://stranoparts.com/partdetails.p...D=17&ModelID=7
Rear: http://stranoparts.com/partdetails.p...=17&PartID=969

I typically like the slightly greater power of HPS so that's what I stock. I don't typically keep a lot of these in stock, but I can get them pretty quickly if you want them.

I currently have stoptech pads on my daily and I would not use them again. They produce so much brake dust it is unreal from what I have used in the past. As far as performance, they work, could just be better overall in my mind.

I'm going to use EBC next time around.

I have them in mine, granted its not driven every day, but I didn't think they dust too bad. Great performance for these toys

HPS do dust like a bastard. One reason I worry about going to something like Torq-Thrust IIs... polished wheel + HPS = AHHHHH!

I'm using Duralast Gold Cmax pads from Autozone and they stop great and keep the wheels clean. I read a lot of good things about them in various car forums so I'm glad I decided to try them.

Interesting.

Sam, have you ever tried the Carbotech 1521s? I know a lot of Vette Z06 guys rave about them as being about as good in initial bite to the stock pads but much quieter and less dust. I have also seen where HPS pads have less initial bite compared to the OEM Z06 pads? So it would seem the 1521s are at least on par with the HPS in performance with less dust/noise? Would that be an accurate assessment?

Are Hawk brake pads pretty much the best for Fbody cars? I've got some cheap OEM replacement pads and rotors on mine, I would like some better stopping power.

BIGGEST problem I have is brake fade. After a few hard stops the brakes get weak, and there is a HUGE vibration in the car whenever I try to stop it. Anyone know what this is?

Brake fade is the pads - too much heat for them to handle.

HPS have good modulation and bite. They stop well. They just dust like crazy. HP Plus are more on/off but stop better, dust more, and squeal more. Sam also sells the DTC-30, which apparently bite like the HP Plus, but are modular like the HPS. I need to look up the Friction Coefficient for the Hawk pads.

StopTech seem to be a step down from the HPS and the Carbotech might be as well. Plus, the Carbotechs are REALLY expensive.

Akebono makes decent pads that don't dust. The Euro guys love them.

Then there is EBC, Pagid, and Ferodo. I think of them more as race only pads. Although, the Ferodo DS2500 might be decent?

After going with my dad to bed in his stop tech pads I'm sold on them. Brand new 10+ 60-5 hard stops with huge clouds of smoke bellowing from the wheels and not one sign of brake fade on brand new pads. My hps pads and c5 brakes rotors couldn't think of doing that.

I've seen on a lot of other sites folks say the StopTech have better bite and modulation than the HPS and they don't fade. Hmm. I wonder if that's because they are lighter cars or better pad surface area for the size of car vs F-Body?

Sam, you say the HPS are more powerful? Do the StopTechs hold up and fade less than the HPS? They seem to dust less from what I've found...

Stop tech dusts less and fades less than Hawk? I might have to go with these. Where do they sell them?

I have StopTech pads if you guys want them. But even the friction rating on the back is lower on StopTech than HPS. If speed cannot get enough power out of HPS and C5 brakes on HPS to engage ABS and all from 60 then there is something else the matter.

I have no problem engaging the abs, but they don't have anywhere near the fade resistance. Atleast in my experience comparing my car to an ls1 with stop tech pads. I just went through the bedding procedure again to see if that helps, but I was never impressed with hps pads. Even my raybestos track pads have at least 2x the grip when they are dead cold compared to hps.
