Default Lowering question??? 1999 trans am

I have had a few people tell me about how they have removed the "puck" above the rear springs and wrapping the top of the spring with a rubber hose. Has anyone done this? How much does it lower the car and does it ride ok??

Thanks!

It does drop the rear a little bit (I think like 1/2 inch or something) but I personally don't like it. Without that part the spring no longer rests flat on the chassis.

You are talking about the "heater hose" mod, from everything I have seen removing the factory rear spring isolator and wrapping the first couple coils of the spring in heater hose will give you close to .75" drop. I personally know quite a few guys who have done this without any kind of issues and the ride quality pretty much stays like factory.
