i'll probably forget i posted this to recheck,
but having just installed a new rear axle in my 2002 with a 3.5" drive shaft and checking everything, I found when my rear axle was up against the oem bump stop that i had very little to no clearance between the drive shaft and the parking brake cable bracket on the tunnel above the drive shaft. I actually put a 1/8" piece of plate steel between my bump stop and the body as a safety shim so the steel of that bracket won't score my $$ drive shaft. anybody consider or check this? with the oem 3" drive shaft you'd gain 1/4" clearance from what i observed but that is not much at all considering if you are modifying your bump stops you would not know if the drive shaft would hit unless you checked.
