Rear Axle End Play

The rear axles seemed to have too much end play which could explain some squirrelliness (is that a word) in the rear... mainly at highway speeds.
Short of putting a dial indicator on it, they seemed to have more than an 1/8" of play (just guessing).
I thought that my problems may have been due to torquing LCAs and end links while axle unloaded, so yesterday I loosened and torqued LCAs while loaded as well as tightened the end links. I also moved my LCAs to the upper hole of the LCA rel. bracket (this is strictly street driven DD mainly on highways).
I've already replaced those axles once (maybe 100k ago?).
