Spongy brakes after hard acceleration/bumps
Hello fellow enthusiasts. I have been chasing a brake issue for months now and have read countless forum threads and visited 2 shops and 2 dealers with no resolve.
The symptoms;
Intermittently after hard acceleration, hard cornering, and or bumpy roads my brake pedal feels soft with extended travel. Braking force is diminished significantly. My front wheels have relatively little brake dust on them, while the rears have a lot. I can easily lock up the rear wheels at any time but the front wheels just won't lock in all but the hardest of stops. I also have a pretty significant pull to the left under extreme braking.
The issues;
spongy brake pedal - low stopping power after hard acceleration and or bumps
the front brakes have very little stopping power at all times - no brake dust on the front wheels. The front wheels will not lock unless under 110% O.S. pedal force.
the rear brakes are very powerful despite a 3/16" line (instead of 1/4") - the rear wheels have plenty of brake dust on them and will lock near instantly.
What I have done;
New Napa calipers all the way around
re manufactured master cylinder
take off ABS module - 2000 SS
60+ brake bleeds
I have visited 2 car shops, they were competent but not experts
I have visited the local GM dealer twice for Tech II bleeds
Any clues or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
