Default Brake Rotors

Need all 4 brake rotors and I'm not looking for the "best" but I'm not tryna be cheap. I bought the jegs brand and they didn't last 6 months before they warped. Then I went with the cheap Wearevers that Advance has and they warped in 2 damn months. I seen the RPM brand rotors at the WS6store(the black ones) and I was thinkin about those. Just wanted to know if anybody has any experience with em?

I bought those for my 01' SS that had the stock warped rotors. I think they are the best bang for your buck. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

Why not buy brakemotives? I love mine other than some squealing up front when I come to a stop.

X2

Mine don't even squeak. I have never been happier with a set of brakes. For the price, you can't beat it.

Another happy Brakemotive user here! Granted, I'd never tell anyone not to use a RPM/WS6store product, but $165 for all four rotors and both sets of pads... well...

On the other hand, it's truly the most budget way to do brakes. If I wasn't in a crunch at the time I needed to do brakes, I'd have gone with ACDelco rotors and Hawk pads.

+1 for Brakemotive, and also not tyring to take away from WS6 store, I think 75% of my parts came from there. My rotors still look new..

If you are looking for a good set of rotors that haven't been cut on or modified to look fancy...

Wonder why my brakemotives squeal when I'm stopping?

Off topic but Sam, I literally just installed your rear springs. I love them even tho all iv got to do is look at them on the car. Fronts will go on with the adjustable UMI uppers are drop shipped.

The squeal might have more to do with the ceramic pad they use than with the rotor? I'm just guessing; I have Brakemotives too and my fronts are squealing now.

Thanks for all the replies. I've heard a lot of good things about brakemotive. I'm leaning towards those ws6store rotors though. Can't help but think those black rotors would look sweet.

Just an FYI, because often folks don't realize this.... Where the pads run, which is 90% of what you see through the wheel, that won't stay black. The pads will rub that right off in about a minute and it'll be bare steel again. Granted the hat and the edges will still be coated, but not where the pads ride.

Is there any info on the weight of different rotors? I would assume if you could get lighter ones that don't warp, that they would be better than heavier ones.

I bought Ray Bestos Premium rotors from Rock auto. Hats are black. Reasonably priced, I'm happy with them.

If you're warping multiple brands of rotors maybe it is time to look elsewhere for the problem. Caliper not releasing, lateral warping do to runout I.e. bent hub.driving hard, etc. I suspect all of these brands are basically the same made in our favorite foreign country.

What exactly is "runout"? I just replaced the front hubs about 4 months ago so I don't think thats my problem. In all honesty I don't drive that hard. I like to make freeway passes here and there but I don't really brake during that. I just let it coast back down the speed limit.

Runout is warping, just a "technical" name for it.

Isn't warping caused be the fusing of the pad material to the rotor? so it would make sense to look at some pads that can handle higher temps...otherwise, you'll keep swapping rotors out thinking they are the source of problem when in actuality they aren't...i'm not saying they can't contribute to the problem...

hawk HPS and call it a day.
