Default Removing front shock assembly

I've seen videos of people removing their front shock assemblies and am trying to do it myself. Everything has gone smoothly, except that once everything is disconnected, it will not simply lift out as many have demonstrated, as if there is still something pushing the assembly back up. Am I missing something here?

You have to remove the 4 upper strut mount fasteners....to be found under the hood on the fender well.....the 2 lower shock bolts.....and disconnect the upper the A-Arm ball joint from the spindle....

After that, there is nothing holding it in.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I disconnected everything as listed above, I still cannot figure out why it was so stubborn. No matter, though; I used the claw end of a hammer to pry it out. Now I am trying to get the new shock assembly in, but am struggling with the lack of clearance...

I already had taken all the strut mount fasteners out. It was really weird, haha.

The upper a-arm assembly comes out with the strut mount....cuz thats what holds it in......

The only thing that could be holding it in would be rust between the upper mount and the chassis.

I hate how you can't get those bolts out without pushing the brake master around......totally bad design.

OOO....and you may have to loosen or disconnect the sway bar link to get more clearance with the lower arm.
Especially if you are installing new parts (strut mount, springs, etc) as the new assembly may be longer.

Disconnecting the sway bar link did the trick! Some videos I watched left out that step, for whatever reason... Thanks!

Hey! As long as you got it. We didn't need to disconnect the sway bar, but whatever it takes to get the job done. Enjoy the new legs!
