Default does anybody regret doing an abs delete?

What are the pros and cons of this? I want to do it to lighten up the car some and clean up the engine bay. But only thing that I have concerns about is if a deer ran out in front of me or something sudden like that would it be easy to lose control or am I juss thinking too much?

Lol I should probably go ahead and do it then, sjm seems to be a popular one used, it would be a good time to do it while I put my mwc kmember in.

Previous car had ABS delete, it was a horrible idea.

Swore to my self when I was search for current car, it was going to be loaded, and stay loaded.

The ABS actually does do something. I lost mine in a race due to a bad hub sensor. It is really hard not to lock the brakes especially with an upgraded compound in the front.

Lock @ 0:20. I was trying to modulate the brakes the best I could but its super easy to lock.

ABS doesn't even work half the time on my car... Along with traction control. Always get the ABS inop, brake, and ASR off lights on. Don't have a clue why or how to fix it. Thankfully haven't had any problems yet but the thread LPE 403 posted has me worried now.

ABS sucked *** when I had it with my 19s. I would feel the 'duhduhduhduh' stopping all the time in traffic...hated it. I liked it with no ABS...was fine with my 19s and now with my 15s. Don't feel that anymore, haven't had an issue except once when I had to stop fast on my slicks (they slid a bit).

Looks like mixed opinions, yeah I figured It would be easy to lock them up, definitely don't want to do what djfury did! I don't drive like an idiot but juss afraid if something unexpected happened then it wouldn't be a good not having abs.

I run ABS. Stickier tire in the rear than the front... let the ABS sort it out when I have to stand on the brakes. I've thought about going with a more aggressive front vs rear compound, but don't know if that will work well or not.

Sounds like your ABS wasn't working right.

My truck had an issue with the ABS, so I disabled it until I had time to fix it. One rainy day I locked up the tires and almost rear ended someone. I will never remove ABS on a street car, it saved me a couple times.

The abs will engage a lot sooner with bigger wheel/tire sizes and on our cars the damn ABS is like a jack hammer on the pedal

I love mine, love the extra room under the hood and the less headache for brake bleeds. I did very limited initial dialing in of the proportioning valve and it stops fine. I don't typically drive in inclement weather though.

Mine is only a good weather driver too and usually drove on weekends. I would like to have that extra room in the engine bay but juss trying to weigh my options here. I've never had any of the problems mentioned above with my abs.

One of the reasons I quit daily driving 64-72 A & G body Pontiacs was close calls with the brakes locking up. ABS is one of the best developments in automotive technology in the last 20 years or so. I'd never daily drive a car without it. The lack of it makes me super-cautious while I'm driving my GTO's.

Which is why I removed it. PITA, freed up room in the engine bay. My car is basically a fair weather car now (well with the slicks it has to be lol) for the time being so it works out anyways.

It all comes down to personal preference. It's essentially trading off additional required stopping distance for space/weight/cosmetic appeal.

I too lost ABS on the track due to a hub failure and it required an immediate change in driving style. Drove around on the street for a couple weeks without ABS while I was waiting to fix the hub and despite being a cautious driver there were several instances where I wished it was there.

Personally, I prefer being able to stop quickly when I want to and in varied conditions over having a little more space under the hood. Just my $.02.
