Default Is wheel alignment required after front shocks

I'm taking my 2000 trans am to a local shop to replace stock shocks with bilstein shocks. The springs are stock. This shop doesn't do wheel alignment. Is it absolutely required or can I drive the car and postpone.

Technically no it isn't necessary as the shock doesn't affect the alignment.

yes, "technically" you could get by without it, but depending on when the last time was you had it done it couldn't hurt and would be suggested to at least have it checked. you may be out of alignment as you sit now for all you know.

I agree.

Secondly, whenever you dis-assemble the front end, things may not go back EXACTLY where they sat before, which in turn may affect the ride height, which will affect alignment....

I just swapped in Koni STR.T shocks and it raised the ride high about 3/8. Its now pulling to the right, so I'm sitting in the lobby to get it aligned.

It may need an alignment but it won't be because of changing shocks.
