Default Bilstein Front Shocks

Just in the process of installing my new Bilstein front shocks and new springs. There are 3 parts included with the shock. A nut, washer and a wierd round piece that's about 2" in diameter. Anyone know what this is for and where it goes. As best I can tell it looks like to should go over the top of the shock body? Any info would be appreciated since the kit I am installing did not come with any instructions! Thx.

Put the lower spring seat back on the shock then that piece your talking goes over the shaft and gets tapped down around the shock

Look at this picture and it's labled as "metal cap"
