Default 1998 ABS Module

Hello All,

I am going on my second ABS Module in a year. As most know, the 1998 cars have a different ABS module (ECBM) than all the rest. Then another factor is that mine is the 4 channel Traction control version. So these two things make a replacement quite hard to find.

I know Master Modules rebuilds the 99-02, but after talking to them they don't touch the 1998 versions and didn't know of anyone who did.

So that leads me to this forum. Does anyone know of anyone who rebuilds the 1998 versions? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

I have the ABS INOP and TCS OFF lights on the dash, and I don't believe that it will pass Mass inspection like this. I guess I could check but I believe any lights on the dashboard is a failure. And I can imagine that the brake lights on the dash wouldn't be favorable.

Thanks everyone.
Dan

Take the gauges apart and put a piece of tape over the light so you can get your inspection.

The part # is a 12453253 Bosch 5.3 EBTCM
Have you tried ABS fixer, cheap abs or one of the rebuild companies to see if they'll refab yours?

Was it from a 4 channel car? Traction control? If so, done deal!
